Harnessing the Miniature Horse

It’s been a little over a year since I made these videos on harnessing and hitching, but since the topic seems to be coming up a lot lately in my travels, I thought it was a good time to reshare them.

If you’ve never seen them, they’re a bit long but will give you lots of food for thought on choosing a harness, the function of each piece of harness, fitting and safely hitching to the cart.

If you have seen them, it might be worth a review – like I said, there’s a lot of information in there!

We (that would be me, and my partner in crime, Christine from Ramblin Ranch) are planning a follow up video on driving basics – getting in the cart, holding the reins, etc. – so watch for that if the weather ever gives us enough of a break that our fingers and the camera will function! 😉

  1. Great info. Would like to have close ups of some of the harness pieces to get a better idea of each. Showing three types of harness was very interesting. Suggesting using an open bridle for training was very helpful. Really liked the content and demonstration. Wrap demo was awesome.
