Stories: Episode 9: Happy Holidays!

On this episode of Miniature Horsemanship Stories we’re not having a guest or an interview. Instead, for a special holiday episode, I’m telling a story from my horsey past, about four special geldings named after Santa’s reindeer. I hope you enjoy, and I hope you have a wonderful Christmas!

  1. Kendra;
    Hi,merry christmas and happy holidays to you,your family and all of your mini horses too.
    I love the pictures of prancer,vixen,donner and blitzen,they are handsome mini horses.
    How do mini horses adapt to very cold wintery weather conditions ?
    What do you do to make sure your mini horses are comfortable handling the wintery cold and chilly on your farm?
    I wish that i could have some color pictures of prancer,vixen,donner and blitzen in a picture frame on my dresser in my bedroom because i love mini horses and if i can’t go to a farm that has some mini horses on the property to have mini horse therapy,i can only look at pictures of mini horses.So it would be nice to have an 8×10 color photo of your four mini horses to look at and smile at to have daily mini horse therapy until may of 2019 when i can go back to the dreamcatcher animal and nature therapy farm to have mini horse and large horse therapy and to talk to the staff on the farm,and hopefully i can find a friend to drive me to that farm in may or june 2019 because i can’t drive due to my very low vision.
    (i have been partially sighted with a just enough vision left to get by on and i can still things myself with some help when i need it and i am still independent)
    Have a nice christmas holiday season and i hope to hear from you soon

    1. Hi Kim! Merry Christmas!

      Miniature Horses grow a very very thick winter coat, so they are well suited to cold winter weather. They do need to have a shelter they can go in to get out of the wind if they need to, as well as fresh, unfrozen water at all times, and plenty of forage to keep them warm. I do check on everyone often during very cold weather, and sometimes some of my older guys will need to be blanketed, but most of them do fine with warm water, extra hay on cold days and shelter.

  2. I really enjoyed this podcast. You are a great storyteller and I would love to hear more about your experiences in future podcasts. Merry Christmas to you and your family😀🎄
